Privacy Policy
Student and Youth Travel Organisation (SYTO) Ghana is committed to protecting the privacy of the young people, volunteers, host families, and partners who engage with us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are
SYTO Ghana is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 1994, headquartered in Accra, Ghana, with a presence across several African countries. When this policy refers to “SYTO”, “we”, “us”, or “our”, it means SYTO Ghana.
This policy applies to sytoghana.org and to the programmes, clubs, and services we operate.
Information we collect
Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, and any details you provide when you subscribe to our newsletter, send a message through our contact form, apply to host or participate in a homestay, or join a SYTO Club.
Information collected automatically: basic technical data such as your device type, browser, and general usage of the site, used only to keep the website secure and improve how it works.
How we use your information
To respond to your enquiries and provide the programmes, clubs, and services you request.
To match participants with host families and coordinate travel, exchange, and volunteering placements.
To send you updates, event invitations, and newsletters where you have asked to receive them.
To understand and improve our programmes, and to meet our reporting obligations to partners and funders using aggregated, non-identifying information.
Sharing your information
We share personal information only as needed to deliver our programmes — for example, with a host family you are matched with, or a partner institution running an exchange you have joined.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the safety of the young people in our care.
Young people and parental consent
Many of our participants are students and minors. Where a participant is under 18, we ask that a parent or guardian provides consent before an application is submitted, and we handle their information with particular care.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to function and to understand general usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Data retention and your rights
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law.
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you communications, by contacting us using the details below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
